Malaria

Malaria is transmitted by the night-time - dusk to dawn - biting female Anopheles mosquito.

Risk is present on Boa Vista Island and São Tiago. Take meticulous anti-mosquito bite measures in these areas.

Risk is absent in most of the country; risk exists only in specified areas:

High risk months for Malaria are: July to November

Incidence of Plasmodium falciparum Malaria: >99%

Areas with drug resistant Malaria:

Suppressive medication is not recommended.
